opinions on the oztrail mitchells? Looking for a good cheapish dome swag. These look not bad for the money.

Can anyone comment on the build quality, comfy ness, size etc?

Would love an AOS tracker but the price and size it folds down too has put me off a bit. Looks too bulky when rolled.

Keep in mind this will be used a fair bit over a 3 month period and then seldomly after that.

Thanks

Shizz,

As far as value for money goes - the Oztrail Mitchell is brilliant.

Both my wife and I have one - I got mine to replace my 20yo swag after testing hers. The mattress is supportive and thick and the swag is almost roomy enough for two.

The only down side is their bulk when loaded with pillow and sleeping bag. They wouldn't be the biggest when rolled up - but close.

A mate who suffers from back pain got one after trying ours. He could sleep in it but found by putting an inflatable mat in it as well (Denelli brand) he could have a better nights sleep than at home.

I'd highly recommend one - a lot are available on eBay for a fair saving including postage. (I got mine for a great price as one of the tie down points had broken)

The only thing to watch is that the poles have bent ferrules - the older style had straight ones which places too much stress when set-up. My mate got this one and after breaking one he contacted Oztrail who sent him new poles for free!

I'm with Tim on this.

Had mine for a little over 3 years now and can't fault it. Very comfortable and in a downpour it's completely waterproof.

Would highly recommend.

What the other guys said.

Had mine for about three years too and it's stood up to everything from -5C to +45C to 3 weeks of heavy High Country rain. Paid $200 for mine from Grangers - sadly closed down now :(

I'm a little bit claustrophobic but find if I keep the head flap open I'm happy and it allows good ventilation inside the swag.

The foam mattress needs replacing now as it's compacted in the middle, usable still but I shall replace it with a Moon Mat very soon.

As Tim said; a bit on the big side but they squash in well :)

Give it a _good_ soaking with the garden hose before use.

thanks guys, sounds like its the go. I heard its the biggest selling swag in oz which made me believe there must not be much wrong with it then. The AOS swag is more than twice as much. Will check out ebay.

Cheers!
