Why would anyone buy a T31 Automatic Diesel Xtrail?

#1 Tow capacity reduced from 2000kg to 1350kg (so the auto trans doesn't overheat)
#2 Fuel consumption is still 8.1l/100(diesel) vs 9.3 (petrol with CVT)
#3 Detuned to 110Kw (127Kw for the manual)
#4 Price starts at $38,990 (our petrolT30 cost $30k on the road last year).
#5 From what I can see, the auto is not CVT

The manual might be a reasonable option, but the auto looks ridiculous on paper.
We'll stick to our petrol T30.

Yeah Michael, they are having trouble selling the new model. It lacks the spunk of the old Xtrail.

the savings for having a diesel are not there. $9000 difference is a lot of petrol!
Also diesel was 32cents more than petrol where I am the other day.

Yep, but thats the problem - its a conventional auto - not a CVT. CVT gets better fuel consumption and retains the 2000kg towing capacity.

Does it still have the nice low air intake so it can have a drink from the nearest puddle ? :)
