Hi Steve.
On a recent trip to the Flinders, friends had a Samsunga412 with the optional aerial fitted to the back of the phone.Reception was exceptional & I was so impressed with the next g service(as compared to optus), I went & bought a similiar phone.
The Telstra shop didn't have the aerial in stock & I am waiting delivery(cost $39).
Cheers.
Vince

I have a laptop connected to Telstra’s Wireless Broadband (Next G).
I received good reception at the tip of Cape York and Wepia with no aerial.
About 10ks south of Townsville I was camped in a black spot that had no reception.
I brought a 6db gain Aerial and attached it to my bullbar – problem solved.
In really difficult areas reception improved markedly if I attached to a rod a couple of metres off the ground

I am certainly no expert, however I have read that Next G and CDMA are the same frequency
I have kept the same aerial from my CDMA and it works well with the Telsta Next G

For Vince B,
Can you post the details of your antenna purchase?
Does that include the adapting cable to enable connection to the phone form the larger connector on the end of the Antenna cable??
Cheers
Trevor
