Yesterday unleaded was 135.9 per litre and I figured the price per barrel had gone down even further so would fill up in this morning.

Bugger me was 147.9 per litre (what the F$%k) on empty so no option so fill up and go to pay check the reading hang on their are more litres than my tank holds ???????????

Yep my debate fell on deaf ears.... but intend on following up as I feel I have been ripped TWICE. Damn it

On the steel issue spoke to my steelie to day after picking up some posts and I said steel is not cheap anymore and he said it had gone up 70% since January and at the end of this month another 15% and in November will go up another 12%

Will order my other post tommorrow before price rise.

I wish my wages would follow that trend.

How can people justify these increases is beyond me.

My bitch for today

ahhhhhh yes I feel better :)

You know that in June, Iron Ore had a price increase of 85%...... backdated to March.

Unbelievable but true.

I know where your coming from Brian. Mind you I'd be more than happy for fuel at 148c/l!! ;)) Still 186c/l in Nyngan mate.

I just put a deposit down for a $12K shed a couple of weeks ago and the guy said that it would be about 4 weeks to delivery. He said that he can manufacture (cut) the material required for the shed in 1-2 days but it is getting the steel that is the problem.

Basically he said that there is only 1 Steel manufacturer in Oz (of decent size to compete) and that is Bluescope. He said that Bluescope have access to their orders (online) and basically only dishes out enough steel for them as to what they have on order 3-4 weeks in advance. He reckons this is to stop anyone buying up a heap with all the price rises still due to come.

He had a very sarcastic dig about how its a monopoly and that it it's basically price fixing. All the manufacturers (sheds/steel framers)can do is pass it onto the customer.

But yes the fuel one is really getting up my nose too. Every day the oil price went up it was reflected at the bowser the next day. Now that oil is coming way down the changes have been very minor and VERY slow. Arrrrgghhhh.

As usual all us normal folk can do is keep taking it up the clacker!!

Have to agree there Ross lol, as for wife obsessed with gold you should try one thats loves diamonds. Mine used to work in a jewellary store and KNOWS the good stuff from the bleep and naturally this is refected in the emptiness of the wallet.

Of course the way steel is going up it will be worth more than gold and diamonds hmmmm wonder if she would like some polished steel while I can afford it :).

Yep have to catch up.

Brian

Buying a handful of bolts the other day, mate tells me all bolts went uo 28% just recently. Getting expensive to shoot my bolt, hang on, it always was.

Got a pricelist of increases on all galvanised products, most will rise by about 30% by November. Going to add a little price rise to new housing. Apparently, it's now cheaper to have a tiled roof. Who'd have thought it.

"Apparently, it's now cheaper to have a tiled roof. Who'd have thought it."

It has been for more than 10 years (colorbond anyway) the price difference at the moment is over $20 a square meter dearer for steel roof than tiles (talking to builder for our new home at the moment) adding anticon under iron makes it 10K dearer for ur house than tiles.

I was fairly surprised actually. Out here in the sticks, tiles were always a lot dearer with freight plus extra roof work plus we had to import tilers (none out here), iron roofs were a lot cheaper. Another problem with colourbond, now everyone is being encouraged to use tanks, over a period of time, the roofcoating oxidises and end up in the tank, making the water undrinkable. I know we are told tankwater isn't to be drunk, it's only for flushing toilets and washing cars but some of us drink nothing else.

Building costs are getting a bit scarey, I've just finished a small patio on a house just down the road, fairly elaborate, lots of exposed hardwood, handrails, lined and ceiled, over 7grand, gave me a fright and I built the thing. Luckily the owner was happy and that's the main thing.
