Looks like I have this weekend off. First since I got back from the EO grathering.
Looking at fitting breathers to the diffs & transfer cases. Has anyone carried out this work. Things to look out for, Any special bits I will need ?
Thanks
Vince

Hi vince
I think you will find the d22 has high breather on every thing except the rear diff. All the others either go to the air box or high on the fire wall in the engine bay. In saying that when I did the cape trip a few years ago with a lot of deep
water crossings I checked the rear diff when I got back and all was fine. But I guess if you get stuck thats a different story.

Thanks
Ross. Must admit that I have not had a real good look around the front, but I did notice that there was no breather on the rear when I have been under there running wires for the camper trailer connection.
I will have a good look tonight if the snow holds off in the Blue mountains. Cold a a frogs 's last night when I was working in the ute back trying to fix the dust proofing. I will beat the dust.

Mine has a breather on the rear diff and it goes up to the bottom of
the tub. I have been through
water up to the windscreen and haven't had a problem. Maybe it is just good luck but it seems to work or you might just get an air pocket under there don't really no. But as I said in my first post I do check my rear diff for
water regularly.

Diff breathers are already there.
Or at least on my old 2003, D22 they were !
You will find that that they come up in the engine bay, close to the top of the firewall, at either side, and hook back over, and stop ..
They are very distinctive

I recon you are right, they just hook over, and stop.
Maybe best to use a length of clear fuel line, if you have any, or a garden hose reduced down at one end.
Caution there !....do not use compressed air, a good strong breath is all you need
Which one goes where, I do not know. I suspect that you would have to remove the breather pipe ( open the clip and slide off ) from each diff, ect and blow air thru them, get back under the bonnet, and listen for the hiss, whilst blowing.
Cheers
