I don't know whether others have noticed or not, that the street numbers on the
views are not exactly correct. If one is visiting a strange town/place and has the laptop out to check out what house to look out for, the number Google gives is not necessarily the right one. The pic for my own house has three numbers, including odds and evens, depending on the angle of the view. The fact that this house-lot was sub-divided some forty years ago and the house subsequently built next door now has an 'a' added to the number might be the cause, could explain that. Now, after looking at old homes we've lived in and our kids houses, I believe this fault seems to be across the board.
Is this country different because it has odd numbers on one side and even on the other?
Sheila.

I reckon it's pretty flaming good that they even recognise my street.
We live in a cul d Sac and there's only one camera for 6 houses.
Great technology and it'll improve as they go.
I wouldn't see it as a fault just a limitation in the system at the moment.

Yep Sheila, you travel 25000km to a place and look at an address and Google lets you down by showing you a house 25 meters up the road.
You 'outa sue them for misleading information.

We . . ell Boobook, I suppose you're one of those blokes who likes to ask for directions huh? After you've sent the wife/kids onto the rottweiler-infested property to find out if it's the right place?

Can anyone tell me what is the point of Street View? I mean, why would a company spend millions of dollars photographing just about every street and highway on the planet and then give it away for free??? What's their real motive????

everytime someone looks at it, an advert or 2 is displayed and they (Google) earn some revenue...
best not to argue against their Business model... it seems to be working!

What ads??? There are NO ads displayed at
http://maps.google.com.au when viewing streetview of pure addresses etc. May be the odd sponsored link shown in the lefthand column if relevant when searching for generic information (eg pizza,
cairns), not really an annoying advertisement....as it just recenters the map on the location if clicked.
I agree though...what is the second stage of this rollout of a free service? :-)

Yes, Ad's aren't shown directly (yet!) on the street view "views" but it's another tool to suck people into the Google world of search (and "Ad" delivery). I just had another look and there are very few 'links' shown. Guess I have grown so used to ignoring them that I assumed there would be plenty!

Google has a sense of humour as they did not bother to map Kiwi land ! !
