Yes it does,

I've seen it in caravanning and motorhome books at some stage.

Rod,
Zylux have the Tyredog system, they ran an advertising campaign on the Forum before Christmas last year when they released the product, they still have an ad in our directory and on the All Terrain Tyres Page

Good technology - worth a look.

Zylux

Hope this helps

rredbeak,
There are a few systems about, but by far the best one I've seen is available at smart tyre dot com dot au. Or thereabouts.

In cab monitoring, alerts, etc. But they are pricey - depending where you shop. I got quotes from $600 - $800.

BUT, you can buy extra sensors to add to trailers etc, so you can monitor your whole rig via a LCD screen.

Beware chinese copies - you get what you pay for!

Cheers, Matt

Ho-Hum John,
Do some research and then bleat. I know many who have both, and the cheap copies are not cutting the mustard.

Feel free to choose whatever you like........................but I apologise if my views dont necessarily match your learned views.

John,
Last thing I wish to do is start a slanging match mate.

But, I never said that all things that are Chinese made are bad. However, in this instance I know people who have had problems with THESE particular systems that have eminated from China.

Main gripe appears to be with very intermittent signals being received from the wheel mounted sensors. And this was with 2 vehicles of the same model etc., fitted with the same system, albeit different countries of manufacture. It may be worth noting, that both vehicles were fitted with steel rims and not alloy. I'd think this fact could be a contributing factor. Maybe the signal in the Chinese stuff isn't as strong - prone to interference maybe?

Sure, the majority of our stuff is made in China, but there is no use (in my humble opinion only), in ignoring the fact that "you get what you pay for".

At the end of the day, any company that gets things built in China will specify what type of components will used in the product's manufacture - and the Chinese will build it accordingly.

The sad fact is, that many will just build with the cheapest components to increase their "bottom line".

Hey, I'm not immune. This last weekend gone, I have had a LCD/DVD TV pack up (5 months old) and a Set Top Box (10 Months old) pack up and both were manufactured in China! The irony is, I have another 81 cm TV made by the same company still going strong after 10 years - but that's made in Korea! Go figure!

Cheers, Matt

I've had Smartire for some years but tyre changers buggered the senders during tyre change. It cost about $150 on eBay from US

About to buy Tyre Dog at $390. This system doesn't need to be installed under the tyre. It screws on to the valve. Saving one tryre pays for system.

Both systems measure temp and pressure, and alarm at preset limits.

Magic.

Hi there,
are the units that screw on the valve thief proof? I have been looking at these units for some time and had decided the best ones would be the inside of the tyre type as they wouldn't be stolen easily. Any thoughts

Just a followup - having read one of the product descriptions, there's an anti-theft collar - but it looks like an allen key is all that's needed - still, should be enough to deter the casual thief.

i have also destroyed 2 tyres on different occassions by running them flat for too long on dirt roads before i noticed. bought one of the JET systems from ABR & am very pleased. JET sensors screw onto the valve & i actually prefer this as i can remove them before tyre changing vs chance of damaging the ones inside the rim. i carry a couple of spares in case sensor battery happens to go flat during trip. was initially worried about someone stealing them since they are on the valve but its never happened (touchwood) .. i dont even use the security fitting (supplied) for them

I've got the earlier Smartire with the sensors that replace the vale stem. They work Ok but seem to suffer from interference from the GPS reciever...(won't always read)..
