Patrol GU VI
I have recently bought a Patrol Ti which has a Sat Nav built into it, being a Dayton MS5200 (
http://www.vdodayton.com/default2_and_fz_menu=mon_ms_5200_xs.aspx). The software that comes with it is the whereis maps, but I am looking to see what additional software is available for this, for going bush. The current software is on an SD card. Most of the software I have seen around is for the bigger portable units such as Magellan.
Can anyone assist?

I can't assist but i have the same unit in my ST. But as far as being used in the bush they will tell you your lat/long but even if you had more detailed maps the functionaity isnt there.
You cant program
routes, record tracks etc. The only route you can do is by porgramming destination an dthe system will calculate the route.

Lat and long is better than nothing.
I have found my little old Navman pretty handy in the bush. No good for following bush tracks of course, but if you back out and get a wide view, you often find the nearest roads, labelled and easy to aim for if need be.
Also, speed, direction etc still work offroad.
Handy addition to maps.

I seconded what Royce say's,
With my little navman, It shows heading, speed, Lat/long, even if you are
miles away from a road, it will tell you where you are and I would think that if things had gone really wrong and help was needed, a Lat/long position would be far more helpfull in pinpointing position, than a track name.
