Hey guy's, has anyone got any info on the track from Kennedy to Ravenshoe via Koombooloomba Lake ie: how steep, any deep water crossings, is it suitable for trailers etc, or any info would be great. Thanks.

Koombooloomba to Ravenshoe is a good road. Sonme dirt in places, but mostly bitumen, if I remember correctly.

Can't help with the section to Kennedy.

Years ago (probably 10) when we were living in Cairns we went from Kennedy up the Kirrima range road & turned off near Kirrima station (before Blenco Falls) & followed a track that eventually came out on the Ravenshoe to Koombooloomba road probably 3 or 4 klms before the dam

From memory it was a easy track that was mostly 3rd gear 2wd driving & i cant remember any water crossings other than a few eay shallow creek crossings

I cant remember how long it took (we camped overnight along the way) but from memory it was not a bad drive

I cant remember any particually steep sections ether

I thought i heard somewhere that the Kirrima range road had been closed to vehicles though even if it has you could still get access from the Gunnawarra road at the other end

Another track we used to drive in the area was the H road that went from near the top of the Palmerston down to the Crossing of the Tully river on the Tully to Cardstone Power Station road

I found this thread for you that you may find interesting but reading it it sounds like a lot of tracks we used to drive are now locked up

Hi

Kirrima range range is CLOSED the only way is to go via Mount Fox west of Ingham up past the Valley of Lagoons cross the Herbert River at Cashmere to back track to the road at the top of the Kirrama Range then go up to Koombooloomba

Greenant

That would depend on where you are starting from

If i was coming from Cairns & wanted the most direct route there i would take the Gunawarra road

From the comments in the link i posted thou it seems like the Kirrima to Koombooloomba track might be locked as well

Thanks Greenant.....damn them, i was hoping i could go from kennedy to cashmere to innot springs if need be but sounds like its that first section that is the closed section, so i would presume the section up to koombooloomba would be closed as well. Cheers.

From memory this one had a nice creek crossing
