Wonder if any member can help with the fuel usage of the 3 litre Nissan patrol cab chassis. Rather than go to the extra expense and lack of user luxuries of the L/cruiser c/chassis,a patrol looks good value ..Thanks in anticipation

Can't help wioth cab-chasis figures as I have the 3L TD wagon. This site, the Nissan Patrol Forum will no doubt have an answer for you. Give it a shot.

Cheers. Mick

(Mind you I'd love the new Toyota V8 Diesel ute myself!)

4wdAction July2008 ran a comparison between the 3litre Patrol tray and the 79series V8 tray. Patrol used more fuel - 13.8 l/100k vs 13.1 for the V8 Toyota.

Official figures are 12.5 for the Patrol and 11.5 for the LandCruiser.

I don't think its good value. Its only $4,000 cheaper, and the Nissan Dealers might offer more of a discount because sales are not good. But you'll lose out bigtime with resale value.

If cost and fuel consumption was an issue, I would buy a D4D Hilux or Triton TD before considering the Patrol traytop.

I have a near-new 3LCRTD Patrol C/C, and while I've only travelled 2,500km so far my figures are around 10.5 (unladen) to 12.5l/100km (700kg on the tray).

Fairly good consumption numbers, and I expect this to improve slightly and gradually until the donk is 20-odd thousand km old.

Oh, and I agree about the value for money on RRP's, but Nissan will haggle very nicely and keep throwing extras in until you're paying $25,000 (or more) less than for the equivalent Toyota.

I had hoped the consumption would have been around the 10 Ltr/100k carefully driven,a lot of the wagons were supposed to be getting that figure. The mag. tests I would think would include pushing the truck pretty hard if it was to match a big V8.Thanks for your reply and have a good run with your new truck
