Can anyone tell me the road conditions between
Longreach,
Windorah,
Quilpie,
Hungerford,
White Cliffs,
Wilcannia, Ivanhoe are like.
We are about to head off and thought someone might of been on these roads recently.
Thanks Julie

Julie,
As Footy said is bitumen all the way from
Longreach -
Quilpie. Can't help you after that.
South of
Longreach to
Jundah is narrow bitumen, then from
Jundah to
Windorah its all 2 lane, though unmarked as such.
Windorah to
Quilpie was all single lane black stuff.
Many of these narrow tar roads have passing lanes at varied intervals. If you need to overtake a road train then I'd suggest that you are right up his clacker at the start of the o'taking lane, as they aren't very long.
Hooroo,
Bob.

Hi Julie,
2 months ago, we took the road from
Longreach to
Windorah via Tocal,
Stonehenge and
Jundah. It was a good run, and meant we didn't have to follow the bitumen! Lochern National
Park was a real surprise - we had a great
camp by ourselves on the
water, and an interesting drive through the
park. We came home via
Innamincka after that.
cheers
Phil
