I have just purchased a 2005 3litre turbo auto nissan patrol, i own a 21 ft caravan, it weighs about 3200kg, is this too heavy for my car?

It won't be legal! With a good comfortable and fitted out auto Patrol, we went to an F250 for that reason. Our 18' at 2.2 t tare, by the time we filled that
water tanks, would be darn near the 2.5 t limit - so we couldn't take any clothes, food, etc.
You also need to consider the gross mass. Weigh your car, laden for the trip including yourselves, and the laden van. Many people who think they are within the legal towing capacity for their tug will fail on this point.
