Will it fit??

Now that I have the new drivers seat fitted into Darkie, I am thinking of using the old drivers seat and mounts to fit it on the passenger side. So as I can get rid of the 2 seater bench seat.

My question is will the mounts bolt straight up or will I have to fabricate new mounts??

I know the back rest adjuster will be on the wrong side for the passenger but I will be able to manufacture the new floor console to suit for access to it.

Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,

I think the rail on the drivers side of the drivers seat is shorter than the rail on the passenger side. Both rails are the same length on the passenger seat. Just went and checked on mine (I swapped to a set of GXL seats so I could run a centre console instead of the third 'middle' seat).

May have to swap seat bases, not so easy? to do what you want. A GXL seat from the wreckers may be the go if they'll sell it separately.

Ross.

Ross,

I may have to do some changing of mounts from the old passenger seat to the driver seat (hopefully it works)

I may end up checking the wreckers out for a GXL seat as well as it may end up being easier.

Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,
Have just completed a similar move of seats in the 80, driver's to passenger side. Had to take the seat off the driver's mounts and put it onto the passenger's side rails. There may be some work involved in removing the plate that holds the (in non technical terms) the bit you plug the seatbelt into.
I'm still working through the seat belt stalk issue at the moment.

FWIW, priced a GXL 80 series seat............ $800.00 for a second hand seat seemed a little pricey.

Hope this helps a little,
Cheers,
Wayne.

Wayne,

Thats sounds like an option.

I don't think the seat belt stalk will be an issue as I think it is a seperate attachment in the 100 series seats.

Cheers Kev

Hi Kev,
I have limited knowledge of the seating and belts in the 100 so I hope you are able to sort this out without too many problems. I'm trying to source some (again in non technical terms) hard stalks, to save having to pick the end up off the floor.

What type of seat did you purchase for the driver's side?

Cheers,
Wayne.

the seatbelt stork in the 100 series is bolted to the seat itself, i know cause i have removed my 105 series seats and replaced them with SAAS seats both sides instead. the rails are different lenghts on the the left and right sides of the seats, once again i know cause i made my own bases up to fit the new seats on.
you can buy a secondhand GXL seat like mentioned earlier, if you have a fat cheque book. the passenger side seatbelt has a belt type stork that bolts to the seat, not a stiff stand alone type like what your drivers side bolts to. the centre seat has a stiff stand alone type stork, but doesn't except the passengers or drivers seatbelt. below is a link to a thread i did on my install.

G'day Rumpig,

Many thanks for the extra information.
When I have sorted the seatbelt issue I will post the relevant information.

Cheers,
Wayne.
