Built one recently , which is meant to be re-configurable.

Basically a strong flat platform about 2.4m long by 2m wide.

Haven't written it up yet , as we then configured it for trail bikes and recently got back from Simpson crossing with it.

The construction was well proven by this trip over commercial trailer that went with us.

Had it plated as "homeMade" , weight was 300kg including 90 kg for the 3 235/85/16 wheels and tyres.

It was designed for a Patrol such that you could hardly jack knife it and used optimized leaf springs and shocks to give best travel for load without complexity of independant.
(Optimized meant we rewelded the shackle hangers 3 times , such that the wheels went into the guards perfectly on compression with 20mm to spare)

Total cost ex wheels and rego was $1000.

360 degree Coupling was chinese copy at $100 approx from trailer place in Bayswater Victoria.

Can't remeber name just now, but I found it by looking for off road coupling on Ebay.

They work with builders doing a bit or the lot , but I had my own ideas.

Picture of upside down frame in my members pics.

Thank you to the replies, some great ideas and I am now going ahead with the build, should start in a few weeks I will try to work out how to get photos onto the forum. The costing so far is around $2000 - 2500 max which includes lockable cupboards along the side and thicker steel on the chassis than most I have looked at.
