I guess you will be taking the “running in oil” out of it some time soon. LOL.

I agree with TD100, if you know your vehicle and how it performs that's the way I have always operated, I do put trust in the gauges It has, and same applied to 30 years of Truck driving, I did own a 1959 FC ute , I new it burnt oil ( and did it burn it) so every day checked and added , but yes as a teen I bloody thrashed it,

The mighty FC.

I had one as my first car back in 79. A beautiful one owner with 90,000 miles on it.

Here's a photo of the ute, and yes it had the white Pom Pom's around the rear window , of course todays youngers would have no idea what they were , the trend was to get some lace with little white balls dangling on it and push the lace in between the glass and the rubber , maybe some other oldie might have a photo of such, The name on the wheel spats was "Telstar"

Awesome, has the motor ever had any work done to it? Does it blow much smoke or run hot ever. Just interested as mine has just ticked over 300,000 and has started to lose power and blow smoke. Just interested to know what you have done to get that amount of k's out of yours.

Had the Fuel Pump changed at 345000 and even then I think the mob in the Isa wanted a job , anyhow it was done and I paid, had the Valves check at Prosser Toyota in Gosnells WA 18 months back , nothing needed fixing and it's still on the original Injectors,
It has had a lot of long runs as a Pilot vehicle, I always add Wynnes or Nulon to all oils when changed , and occasionally I add Wynnes Spitfire Injector Cleaner to the fuel.

Thats good Doug , they are suprizing these days , and I have been surprized that my Patrol hasn't seemed to have used a drop in 160,000 and the only reason I changed the plugs at 130,000 was because I thought I should !

Robin were they those Platinum Plugs??

My Turbo Falcon has the things and according to the owners manual they are good for 150K before changing.
Shudder to think how much they are gunna cost when they do need to be changed.

Hi John

There even better, Iridium tipped I think - anyway they were only a dollar dearer than normal at $9.95 each. Not that it makes much difference what sort you use as long as heat range is ok.

One of my favourite posts from the Patrol website was when someone trying to put a case for diesel said that they would cost $100 each.

Good run Doug hope you haven't mozzed the thing by telling us how good its been :-)

I reckon its the nice long continuous runs you did as a Pilot that makes the difference.

Thats why . The motor produces so little horsepower it lasts forever . I do about 10,000klms per year in mine so it should last until i am 150 .
