G'day all,

Boss's 2003 Rodeo 3.0 TD has started using around 1 litre of oil for every 100 ks. He's getting a bit peed off having to fill it up all the time. I had a look at it today. No obvious serious leaks, no oil splashes under the chassis, no oily exhaust, however there is significant oil in the air hoses from turbo to intercooler to inlet manifold. Small oil leak from the inlet manifold on No 4 cyl. I have a suspicion that it may be oil seals in the turbo bearings. It has done 140k ks. Does anyone have any knowledge of these motors; is the turbo easy to remove? Anyone know where I can get a manual for it online? Boss wants me to pull it apart in the morning.
Thanks

Ian

Hi Ian, have heard of this happening before but the vechile started blowing a lot of smoke then drained the sump and blew the motor.
This was about fifteen years ago when I worked at an engine rebuild shop.
They ended up getting a change over turbo as a rebuild was going to cost heaps and they had a warrenty that way.

Hope that helps, Bushy.

It is not real common but i have seen a few do it, compressor end seals leaking i would suspect.

They are a sod of a thing to get off, good luck with it.

Hi Ian

Sounds like you're on the money but it can also be the pcv valve failing this has also been common in the past along with cracked pistons.

Be careful driving the vehical as the above conditions can lead to the engine running away and if it isn't caught by stalling it can destroy the motor.
