G'day all,

I'm asking this question on behalf of my old man, he has an 02 model 3.0 L TD Prado and has already had the steinbauer P box fitted.
When he had the chip fitted it was suggested that the exhaust be done to get the most out of the upgrade which is understandable. The question is, does the dump pipe need to be changed with the exhaust? He has spoken with a few different exhaust places all with differing opinions on this. Some say leave the stock dump pipe as its not really a restriction and others have said change it.

I was hoping someone on here may have removed a dump pipe on one of these engines and compared it to an aftermarket one.

Thanks in advance
Chris.

Chris,

My understanding is your exhaust is only as beneficial as the most restrictive point. I wouldn't think there would be much benefit by upgrading the exhaust size and leaving the dumpipe. I'll happily stand corrected.

I went 3 inch, dumpipe included, on my 1HD-T, and could not be happier with the'flexibility' it gave the engine. Spools up a few hundred revs quicker at least. Doubt it does much to top end power but brilliant where you need it. About half a gear better.

Hope this helps, Ben

Prado exhausts aren't too bad but to get the maximum benefit from the chip yes it is advisable to replace the exhaust and dump pipe.

Reduces EGT,s and yes does make them more driveable. What system was he looking at fitting.

Ok good choice, like i said the exhausts are pretty good for standard setups but to get the most it is advisable.

We fit TIAPAN's and they give good results.
