We have a 94 DX Nissan Patrol 4.2 Turbo Diesel and are about to have a baby. We cant find any where to attach the child restraints to. Do these have to be installed, or should they be standard in the car already? Also, I plan to build a set of draws in the back and was wondering how I would go about this with the child restraint. Any comments and advise is appreciated.
Thanks, Jenko

jenko, should show where they are in your manual. They should be in the rear under the carpet, pull it back and have a look. Rear drawers negate the legal mounting points, as far as I know. Maybe talk to those that make the drawers? Good luck.

Jenko,

Give me a call on 03 9706 6527 and I'll explain how to find them and fit the child mounts.

Jim.

jenko, the points are behind the rear seats in our '99 Patrol, we had draws put in ours therefore the points are under them but can still be used, however the points then become 'illegal' although workable. The reason is because of the belt going in under the drawers, in an accident, at the point of impact the corner of the draws could cut through the belt. I believe some people have used the points with draws anyway.

Directly behind the back seat there are four bolt holes (6mm), 2 on each side, i had a length of 30x2 mm square tube drilled it to bolt into the holes, then tigged some peices of 5mm plate to it and milled a 13mm slot into each for the belt to clip into.

Jenko, with a DX, I presume you have a rubber mat instead of carpet in the cargo area?? Either way, you'll have to lift this (at the front) and fold it back...

Approx. 220mm in front of the bolt holding the luggage tie-down, and directly in line, you should find a captive nut in the floorpan (should be one on each side).. There will probably be a plastic "nut cover" in there which you'll have to prise out.. These are your child restraint anchor points..

Be aware that, unlike all/most of the other captive nuts in the Patrol body (which have metric threads), these have an imperial thread (5/16 UNC)...

Hope this helps:)
