Poor Poor Roachie, he has spent the week scouring through his hundreds of clients and managed to find a couple who are based in Adelaide, just happens to be the same city where the trol is a resident patient.
So he contacts his clients and begs them to let him visit, so by lunchtime he is free to go sit bedside with the trol for a couple of hours, before visiting hrs are over.
The poor trol is strung up to the roof in traction by a couple of chains, and its butt is naked, just a couple of bits of useless tin sticking out from the cab.
All operations are at a standstill while another shipment of steel arrives to try and bring the chassis, of the 4 ton scap steel heap, to somewhere near a toyota strength, so it will handle future torture.
It was reported that tears were still staining Roachies cheeks when he arrived home some 2 hrs later.
Must be hard to admit such a massive mistake, as choosing the wrong brand of 4WD !!!
I will be spending the weekend with him at the Kadina show, where we have a display, and have prepared myself with several rolls of VIVA super absorbent towel to keep his cheeks dry.
I feel sad to have to make reports like this, but someone has to do it.

Cheers pesty

Seems to me there is some sort of a desease hanging about the YP Club

Poor ole Roachie with his Chissan in traction and Lucky with his virus ridden Droopy.

Hope all you clubbies have a good chinwag over the weekend.....comparing broken bits......LOL

Well I did give him a genuine Nissan Patrol chassis repair kit to get it on the road quicker.

He can always borrow the Hilux....as long as he gives it back!

Pesty as you know owning a Nissan Patrol is a very powerful mind game, your always wondering whats going to brake next.

As they say "Owning a Nissan Patrol is one mans passion and another mans fortune...specially if the other mans a mechanic."

Thank you for sharing my deep-seated, profound personal grief with the whole wide world.........MR UN-CARING PESTY!!!!!

The Chev-Nissan appreciated the bunch of flowers I took her and we had a good reminice about all the adventures we'd had together in the past.

I re-assured her that there will be many more similar travels to come over the coming years, once she has had the bone-marrow transplant treatment completed.

All will be good.......still waiting on the verdict as to whether the engineers will allow her to have the traction levels ramped-up until her wheelbase is 500mm longer......some contention about how best to achieve this at the moment.

Bill, there are a lot of uncaring types on this forum who lack the sympathy and empathy that you so eagerly seek.
I have been searching around seeking someone who can provide the help that you require. Unfortunately I too have been unable to locate any of them.
Roachie, as a Bankie, I would have thought Bean counting would have been a vital part of your persona and I am astounded that you haven't done the sums yet and worked out that the Toyota option would have been the cheaper option in the long run.

Brother!!! your pain is my pain, is it not enough that we have to suffer the indignity of broken dreams and heart ache but those fools that don't begin to understand our type have to sink the boot in while we are down, the bast4rds!!!!!

Give my regards to the Chev-Niss.
I undertand mate, bugga those other guys.

However my lot is improving now mate.

TONI was road tested today (a couple of minor issues) and with any luck will be coming home very soon. 3 months today since the start of this project, and it's nearly over with what looks like a fab outcome, the wait is nearly over.

Er Indoors and I have been like a couple of caged animals looking for any way to get out, so it comes as a great surprise to us both that we have not torn each others heads off, in fact we have both been very supportive and serene, that's a first LOL.

Colin.

Just as an aside, it was an eye-opener to see just what sort of carnage had been visited upon various patrols, as reflected in the work in progress at Chassis-Tech in Adelaide.

I'm sorry to say that the newer the Patrol, the more prone they seem to be to cracking either chassis and/or spring towers. It seems as though Nissan has now started using licorice for it's chassis material!!!!!

When I was there last Friday, there was a 2006 model GU which had just done a CSR and Simpson crossing. Mind you, it was loaded to the gunwalls with gear.....including a full-length home made steel roof rack with 5 steel/full gerry's of diesel and a roof top tent. The rack itself would have to have tipped the scales at 100kgs. The roof skin was cracked about 50mm long from the rear left end of the gutter, over towards the apex of the small rear door. But the real dramas were underneath.....much worse than my rig suffered. He had a ARB steel twin spare wheel carrier, long range tank, full interior drawer system/fridge etc.

Patrol owners need to be aware that when the driver's side spring tower cracks, it WILL crush the brake lines and fuel lines, which run right over the top....just underneath the body.

The other thing I saw laying beside it on the floor were the (not so) Tough Dog Heavy Duty Adjustable shockers.....totally phar-ked after that little adventure.

Well we have just spent the w/e with Roachie, and all he was able to talk about was the trol in traction.
He tried to drown some of his sorrow last night, and the viva towel wasnt needed, as he had a bath towel at the ready for the tears.
He was drooling over new tray designs late in the evening, and im sure his dreams were predictable !!!
