Would a good set of AT be better then a rear and front locker system with HT on. I was just wondering ????

Cheaper and possibly better in the real slippery stuff but in reality....

No... .because....

Highway Terrains do still have a lot of grip and are even better on some surfaces. Sure.. All Terrains are the better for off road.

A rear locker basically adds another drive wheel.... then a front locker adds yet another.

Simple really, four wheels driving is better than sometimes only two. The rubber matters less.

Mind you... if you don't have much use for lockers... then stick to chunky rubber for traction.

When you lift a wheel, it doesn't matter how good your tyres are.

Hi there. Rather than one word answers, here's my story: I went from HT tread passenger tyres to AT Light Truck for reasons of puncture resistence and especially wall strength, for example on gibber and other harsh on-road conditions (Oodnadatta Track etc.). I would not be comfortable in off road conditions which 'need' lockers unless I had tougher tyres than HT, particularly in the sidewalls. So, for me, it's less about grip than toughness. By the way, when you have found the perfect excuse to buy lockers front and back, let us all know!!
Have fun.

Sorry, should have said " ... tougher tyres than Passenger construction HT ...", because I'm talking about tyre strength, not simply tread pattern.
