We have a Commander Ibis airconditioner installed in our caravan which we can now run with a 2.4 Yamaha generator. We have been asked a few times what size generator would run the Ibis aircon. We would now like to pass on the following info. When we first tried to start the Ibis with the 2.4 generator we had no luck when the aircon was set on Auto. The start up power required was higher than the 2.4 Yamaha could produce. However if we had the Ibis set on manual the generator would just manage to start up the aircon and would continue OK after that. However the generator was really labouring at start up. we have since found out from the manufactures of Ibis that a 'Soft Start' Conversion Kit was available from them at no cost but we would have to arrange to fitt at our expense. The kit came with detailed installation instructions and I had no problems installing the conversion kit myself. The kit made a considerable difference when starting the Ibis, the generator now has a minimal increase in rev's and handles the load quite easily. I hope this information may be of assistance to others with a similar problem
Cheers
