To those of you who are technically minded in this department it may seem obvious, but unfortunately I leave things I don't know about
well alone.
Hence my question?
Which shock goes where on a GU patrol?
I have the original set of springs and shocks from when I bought the car 3 years ago. A friend needs new ones so I'm giving him them. They are no good to me, as I have a 4inch lift from ARB.
When I got them out of the shed I saw that one side is longer than the other.
Can anyone tell me which one goes where, as I will only be doing one corner at a time. (No hoist - Can't understand why the missus reckons we don't need one in the garage?. I guess we need the money for stupid stuff like food, insurance, healthcare.......etc)
Any help on what to most will probably be obvious.....would be greatly appreciated.
Brian

The front shocks are both the same and the rear shocks are both the same.
I reckon you're probably referring to
the springs (as opposed to the shocks). I'm not 100% sure, but I _think_ the longer springs go on the passenger's side (to counter the natural camber of the road in this country). I would say try it first, by installing
the springs in the front and lowering the vehicle back down (without shocks and sway bar fitted etc, in case you're wrong). If you lower it down and it looks to be leaning too far in one direction, then try it the other way around.
Hopefully somebody else will come along with a more definitive answer for you.

So is this true for all leaf spring jobbies? My 84 LC will need to carry a spare main leaf when I go so do I have to be careful what I take?
