Just went to request a thread watch and received the message that "I exceeded my number of requests"....

In order to get a new thread watch I had to scroll back through many pages to find an old "thread watch" request to unlock so as to get back to the thread I wanted..no worries but it took me 30 back pages to find one!

My suggestion is that

1 The tread watch is automatically removed after a given time frame

2 OR a drop down list that gives quick access to these requests?

I am not aware of how many exceeds the allowed number..but after 30 pages of going backwards to find some I found one to delaete to allow my new request and gave up..........no doubt I have many so far back that they will remain for ever

just a suggestion that may make watching threads more manageable

comments please

bungarrs,
click onto your "My Home" page, then click on "Watched threads" and you only get to see the threads your 'watching' so you can delete them easily from there

This is the correct answer - thanks Mainey.

It appears that bungarra was not using the My Home link to the forum thread watch and as you correctly point out using the Watched Threads link in My Home gives you the list as requested.

I think the limit is around 41 threads

The limit is currently 256 characters as I store the threadid's in a comma seperated list. I can make it bigger if people want as I do not think there will be a performance issue till it is around 200 entries however it is also a way to ensure that people remove the watch after a period of time.

David

I have just cleared a lot of my watched threads. What I noticed was that the majority were archived threads. There is not much use having archived threads watched!!!!

If you are going to change the watched threads feature, would it be too much effort to automatically remove archived threads from the watched threads list?

Or another idea would be to have the "watched thread" indicator simply 'vanish' back to normal when the thread is Archived.
Just a fhought :)

David,

If it ain't broke, don't fix it :)))

I use the Watched Threads feature to 'bookmark' particular threads for future reference. It saves having to wade through search results.

I agree with Gramps (even though it is a big call agreeing with a Cockroach) but I use the Thread watch in the same manner as he does.

Cheers Kev

Hmmmmmm Bungarra

Thanks for bringing that to my attention.

I do not even recall having clicked on Thread Watch but found 4 in my box. So was able to delete them.

Cheers

LOL go figure I wondered how you tracked the thread watch done, now I know of course most likely in archives now. So my day was not a total loss :)
