Does anyone know where I can get a cheap roof respray in
Brisbane /
Gold coast area? We have a 1981 Jayco and the paint is peeling on the pop top roof and main roof. Its too big a job to do in my driveway with sanding back etc and but I don't want to spend a fortune. Being on the roof it doesn't need the prettiest finish, more a protection factor. Has anyone had caravan resprays and can recommend the painter?

Hi David ,
You may not believe this but I have the exact same van / year and had the exact same issue.
I found that a light sand by hand , a full scrub down with methylated spirits with a ( you know very stiff brush scrubbing deck style ) , allow to dry and the self applied a good quality white acrylic spray ( spray can from auto store ) . This came up really nice and is still on , no flaking and is outside in the melb wheather 100% off the time . Holts make white spray cans of acrylic for vans but in little cans ( for touch ups ) and exspensive through carrvan accessory
places. I also used a ladder and a long board to go across the van on the roof ridges.

Thanks Ronin.
If I end up doing it myself, I will follow your advice. I just think the extent of the flaking may be beyond the easy touch up stage. Also I'm a bit nervous about putting my weight on the roof which may break the old seals and give me a leaking roof.

Thanks for
the tip Troopyman. That might be the compromise between doing it myself and paying the big dollars for a pro job. The product you linked to looks good, probably not cheap but worth the extra being designed for the job. Being on the roof, I don't know if I need the clear cote, they say that is an aid to washing etc which is only a once a year job on the roof.
I would still be interested if anyone can recommend a cheap spray painter though.

Hi David,
I work at a smash repair business in South
Tweed Heads.
Send me a MM as I am sure there are a couple of painters who would be interested.
Cheers.
Vince
