Hi all,

Just after some advice on routes on Moreton Island. What is the best route from the ferry drop off point at Tangalooma to the North West Camping Zone at the top of the island (pass Bulwer town). What is the in land route like? What is the like for camper trailers? Is the beach route recommend for camper trailers?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Happy Camper Trailer

Well I haven't been the for about 6 months but the inland track from Tangalooma is a shocker and lots of deep ruts to bounce in and out of, you'd want excellent clearance on the camper trailer and things very well secured.

Inland track back from the beach for some weird reason has always been, for years, in excellent condition. mayben after getting bogged so much people figure maybe they should reduce their tyre pressure by the time they go home.

Hopefully someone answers this that's been there this weekend or post at the forum on ausfish.com.au its a site that seems utterly dominated by brisbanites (such as myself) and Moreton is the treasure we love to go to, if you like fishing anyhow.

I was there last week. The middle road is in terrible condition - worst I've seen it, especially (strangely?) on the east->west direction. It's only about 7kms though.
I didn't travel the other tracks (except from the east side of the cape over to North Point) so can't really comment although the blue lagoon->bulwer track is usually pretty bad.

I would say to get to the North West zone north of Bulwer you are best off just going north along the beach from where the ferry drops you off. Low tide will make it much easier. You have to bypass Cowan Cowan regardless of tide and if you are going north of Comboyuro you have to bypass that bit as well now (I haven't driven that way since they closed it).
If by "north of Bulwer" you actually meant up near North Point (still in North-west zone) then you are better off going across middle rd, up the eastern beach and across behind Cape Moreton.
