For the last ten years i have always turned to the old ever so faithful Howard terrier rotary hoe to get the vege patch cultivated as spring approaches, but today "she no wan't to start!". I only use it for a hour a year!!, don't know why it played up, its only 40yr old as well.lol. But after a couple of hrs pulling that start rope to no avail, i thought chit!, will have to start pulling things to pieces,( Undoing bolts that where done up 40yrs ago!!), Anyway with a bit of thought as to why there was no spark ,i pulled the flywheel off to have a look at the magneto area and sure enough it had enough dirt in there to fill a ten ton tipper!!., Cleaned it all out, rubbed up all the contact areas of the magnet with emery paper, reassembled and " BINGO " she"s off again, Runs like a swiss watch..lol, Just love those old engines!!, Now how many tomatoes will i plant this year? What about spinach for a change?, or maybe more beetroot?...lol.

Cheers Axle.

LOL

If I start a vege patch it has to be kid proof first as they use it as a makeshift sand pit :)

Dazza, if you could smoke my grass, the locals would mow it for me !:))
I have to admit that the amount of Singapore Daisy that I have to kill and burn might get me a reputation as a "smoker"........

The boys in blue are regularly finding acres of the smoking stuff around here...no wonder some people have flash cars and houses.
Me ? I like to sleep at night !

I've spent my winter cultivating weeds! Now I need a month of sundays to get rid of them.

Hi Axle,
Weathers getting warming, Fysh and myself with the three kids extended our veggie patch this morning. Near doubled it size.
Have you got one of them fang dangke walk behind rotary hoe things?, I spent 3 hours on the end of a shovel, Darn :(( Must get meself one of them.
But We are lucky, we 've got a couple of turners to give us a constant supply of of horse manure. It's just the best stuff.
The kids love getting out and digging and watching their seeds grow.
Besides, with the price of Veggies these days it's well worth the effort
Summer is a comin'

G/Day mate, Yes its the most rewarding thing to watch a vege plant grow through it stages and reward you in the end after all the pampering..lol , and so good for the kids as well to the ones interested, a good education in the real world of things.

Yep gotta agree that there is nothing like a feed of freshly picked veges. Love most veges but especially my tomatoes and corn. Especially corn in the weber. Just pick it and drop it in a bucket of water for 30 mins. Tie end with a bit of string and then cook in weber for 20/30 mins. It actually steams in its own leaves, fresh margarine and pepper finishes it off... then a bath.

Hang on to that Howard Axle - They are collectors items now believe it or not!

My Mum worked there in the drawing office for years when I was a sprat. Was once taken by her boss to see the foundry pouring castings, spectacular sight for a ten year old kid.
