Fellers,
My maths mucked up. To pay for the addition of gas at todays prices wiould cover 120,000km, not 50,000 as stated.(Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong again).

The Ole Girl has scarcely reached puberty at 155,000, so that is fine within our family, but to decieve others is not fine.

I can't be sure if fitting gas is more like fitting one's first real bra, or finally fitting dentures that actually work. Either way, the Faithful Ute exhibits a new willingness to get up and go.
I stop.

wouldn't sweat it jeff, you just had me worried about the maths ;)

you did make me think about it though.
in WA we get the fed's $2k and $1k from the state gov. and a d-gas cost $3800.
so only $800 out of pocket has me thinking.
i'm just not thrilled about where they put the gas tank instead of the spare on triton's. :( especially as i have just finished my storage in the tray and didn't leave room for a spare tyre.

there must be lots of options as to where to put the gas tank or tanks... they come in all shapes and sizes.

Greybeard,
I spent hours under the ute, measuring, using mock-ups, wishing and cursing. Every viable space had a flamin obstruction of some sort. Finally settled on the space above and in front of the spare. The 27L (effective) tank fits snug as you like, although the long handled shovel is relocated lengthways now. All else remains the same. Certainly know what you mean about space. Have you got a list of tank shapes and sizes? You may score a winner.
Good luck with it.
Jeff.

Andrew I've never been wrong in my life before - that's what makes it so difficult.

No seriously, it was a careless but very misleading error and needed correction: maybe I should lighten up some.
Thanks all the same.

It's not the being wrong that some people have trouble with, it's how one handles the facts afterwards.

Well done on your handling of the situation, it takes someone with real values to deal with it in such a way.

I have been wrong once or twice (per day) in my life. :-)
