Hi Jag
Are you going to keep the hitop on now
There is normally 3 boards of marine ply that fit across the width and two foam mattresses that are stored above the cabin
we just use
the bench and slideout extension that sits on top of the lift up bench with the cushion of the
seat

Hi Bill,
I will be keeping te high top for now, with a view to change it when the time is right.
I would love to see how your set up works.

I am away at the moment but our pop-top Troopy has 3 boards. The two that are closest to the front are joined by a hinge so they fold up when not in use. The rear board has a metal bar along the rear edge to help support it when a couple of heavy weights are up top.
There is also reinforcing between the rear most board and middle one. I will take photos when I get home on the weekend as it is a bit hard to explain the arrangement.
If you use thick enough ply or you are light weights, you will not need the reinforcing. The boards a re a tight fir side to side so they do not move around.
We prefer to use an air bed as a mattress as the supplied foam mattress (4 parts) is too thin. We cannot go thicker because being a pop-top and they are stored up top we do not have a lot of room with the roof down.

I have a pop-top. Not sure how different, to hi-top re bed set-up. Set up I inherited has the boards connected by a couple of rails (from the underside), and there are a couple of posts which are used to 'prop up' the bed base up (one on either side) so you can still stand upright over the sink (but not down the front end of the car).
We have a 100mm latex overlay permanently up in the roof. Love it.
