Mine has sat on the back of the ute for the past 5 years, even out in the rain. It gets it yearly wash when I take the ute through the drive through car wash...... It is still as good as the day I bought it......

We have had a 29 Litre Engel for 27 years, we use it for a
Bait Freezer, and Ice for the Drinks ect while we are away,
We also have a 40 Litre Engel which stays in the back of the truck
for Drinks ect, and its never turned off.

My old man bought a 40L Engel back in '87. I now own it and it has not missed a beat. It doesn't look so flash anymore as 20 odd years of corrosion are detracting from the overall appearance, but I have it so reliable that I don't really care what it looks like. I highly recommend purchasing an ENGEL.

They have been used in Australia for over 40 years and are the Number 1 car Fridge available. You do not stay on the market for that time for no reason, they are the best, and yes I have 2 of them.

Cheers

G'day Eve

Yes the Engle is a good reliable product , but they are mighty expensive to have repaired and yes they do fail.

I own and use three of them continuously , 1X 15litre and 2X60litres , the only one not yet needing a rebuild is the 15litre unit which is 28 years old.

Yes I would still recommend an Engle first.

Cheers Joe

Mine are negative experiences.Mine however have been well used in very rough situations, not saying the above havn't been. First one a 60 litre fridge developed a very loud knocking noise. Was told it was common with that batch, around 5-6 years ago. Latest one a 60 fridge and freezer died in Derby a couple of years ago. The refig mechanic had 2 other engles to repair at the same time.

When venting my splein he said yep he got at least a dozen or so engles a year to fix but a damn lot more of other brands. Turns out the run across the Gibb tends to either crack pipes or loosen scale and block the expansion valve.

So appears they are better than most but don't think they are bullet proof.

Hi Eve

I purchased my first Engel in 1993 a 29L...it has been to hell and back and stood in water..still working 100% and still in regular use

I purchased a 60L 4 years ago........both this and the first one have stood the test of many very rough and bone shaking tracks.......tracks that have ruined new shock absorbers on vehicles but not the Engel

I purchased another 2 40L this year...one to give to my daughter ..and the other to keep in another vehicle because it was convienent to do so than keep swapping them over between vehicles

you get what you pay for.....Engel is the standard others try to mimic

the new models are very effecient on amps...around 2.5 ah...another reason to consider them

purchase an Engel with absolute confidence

My dads got one of those with the yellow lid (old). It fell of a Keworth seat to the ground years ago and still to this day pumps out a coldie. We have three also. One for every occasion. I would like a three way Engle in the caravan.
