Just a query regarding the use of a 10” Full-View Donaldson Pre-Cleaner.
I bought one recently for when I am TEC (quite regular) and noticed a perceived performance increase when fitted over the standard Safari
snorkel ram head. I have read reports before that these pre-cleaners should only be used at speeds below 80kph, and for speeds above 80kph one should revert to the ram head. However my 4.2Tdi appears to be quite responsive at all speeds up to 110kph, with a ‘
seat-of-the-pants’ gain in performance (I have not measured fuel economy yet). Does anyone have any thoughts about the use of the 10” Donaldson versus the ram head as a permanent arrangement?
Thanking you in advance…Craig D.

I have one for dusty conditions, didn't notice any increase in performance, i did however notice an increase in the sucking noise from the snorkle.

Redabck I originally tried a 7" and it was deafening! Hence, the 10" I now have.

I had the 7" on my 60 series and at times had to run with the window up and A/Con on because of the noise. Sure collected the dust though.
Didn't seem to effect the performance over 80km either. Mind you at 125 the wind noise overcome the sucking noise anyway.

Craig,
I had a 10" Donaldson on all the time then took it of thinking it would improve fuel economy but made no difference, As long as it can suck enough air I don't think it makes any difference.
Cheers Dave...
