2000 hilux split rims on a 94 Pajero

Hi all
I know most will probably say why go split rims anyway, but they are some old ones i have hanging around and want to use them up. Can i put the split rims from my 2000 hilux on the Pajero NJ 94? I think they are both off set or are only the landcruiser split rims off set.

All you can do in a case like this is measure both
wheels then decide. Start by placing a straight edge across the inside edges of both rims and measure the back spacing. That is the distance from the inside edge of the rim back to the centre near the stud holes where it contacts the hub. My 2003 Hilux is 115 mm and I think the 2000 is the same. If the Hilux wheel is the same then you are in luck. If it is more or less then you may still be able to use it but it might alter the track width. I think from memory most State regulations allow a track increase of up to 25 mm but no more. I would not be too keen on doing it if it decreased the track.
If the wheel does go in a little further then make sure it does not touch any part of the
suspension, steering or brakes.
Check the size of the hole in the centre for hub clearance. It does not have to be an exact fit because the studs take the weight, not the hub. Some people will disagree but for the hub to take the weight, the wheel would have to be a press on interference fit. The stock split rims on my Hilux look like they touch the hub but I can run a .005 to .006" feeler gauge right around between the hub and wheel when the wheel nuts are tight.
Make sure the Pajero wheel studs are the same size as the Hilux and the taper on the nuts is the same. It is easy to use Hilux nuts if the taper is different but if the studs are different then it may be more trouble than it is worth to change them.
Check the inside surface of the Hilux centres where they contact the hub and make sure the entire surface contacts the Pajero hub.

Put one on and see if it fits. Check all of those things from the above reply. If it's a good fit then why not? If you're not happy with the fit then personally I would be thinking twice about it.
They won't handle on-road as
well as fats but I think are better when the going gets slow and tough. I put splits on my GQ, you are able to get tougher tyres with the 16X6 split rims than on fat tyres. Maybe skinny tubeless would be better again. But I got
mine so I would be able to put cross-plys on to go bush.

Cheers for that. Yeh i much prefer splits, always had them, think i'll always stick to them, and yep i run tubeless splits and carry tubes for bad bad punctures.
