I just read your report and it took me back to when we did almost the same trip in 1992.
We are currently booked in to "Do the Kimberleys" again in 2009 and reading this has wet the appetite.

Great trip report, Richard.
The various mechanical problems your party had, with shocks, fans,
tank brackets etc are a salutory warning to those venturing out there. At least you blokes seemed to have some mechanical abilities - imagine if folks had no skills at all to even diagnose issues as they arise.
