on the plus side though you probably wouldnt have to jack it up to fix after the wheel falls off as it will likely be upside down anyway.
Then again, you probably will be also!

Unko, it's no expensive at all. If not fixed eventually the cage might collapse and you will have rollers going everywhere. In theory the wheel might lock up, but in reality it will chew the crap out of the stub axle and cost you more than a few bearings and an hour of your time. Your wheel may fall off as stated earlier, but unlikely. You need 2 outer bearings, 2 inner bearings and 2 seals. Do both sides at the same time.
If you want bearings, and can get to the northeast suburbs (you in
Adelaide aren't you?), go to CBC on Nth East Rd Holden
Hill, speak to Brian and tell him the guys from Henstock sent you in. He will look after you better than anyone else in the bearing trade.
If you're not comfortable with doing the job grab a workshop manual. Everyone has to learn somewhere.

Don't even think about risking it.
I have seen plenty of badly worn, rusty and collapsed wheel bearings back in my days in the motor industry but the best of them all was back in the early 1960s when I was a
bright eyed little apprentice.
An FJ Holden was towed in with a seized front wheel. I removed the hub cap, the grease cap and then
the nut but that was as far as I could go. I had to cut the stub axle out of the hub with an oxy torch in order to get the hub off. The over heated bearing had welded itself to the stub.
That is what can happen if you ignore it although few people would go that far because of the noise the bearing would be making. The owner of the FJ may have had a hearing problem. Either that or he was trying to win the idiot of the week award.
