Hi my old man has just brought a new Jayco Sterling 20ft caravan he is really happy with it so far ,but for one issue that being the external access door for the hot
water system, it has no security lock, is there a reason for this ? If not has any one else experienced this issue, if so what mods have you done ? any advice or photos of mods on this access hatch others have performed would be greatly appreciated.

Dont think any make has anything different as they have to be able to be opened quickly should the gas give a problem as
mine did on last trip when leaves got into it and had a little fire up the side of the van.
Next time I will check it before I leave (pardon the pun)

The Suburban HWS is fitted to a variety of vans, not just Jaycos.
Why does the access door need a security lock anyway?
What is he afraid is going to happen? Not aware of a propensity for people that play around with someone elses caravan HSW
I'm not sure any other owners of vans with these HWS have worries about the need to lock the access door.
Why not just rivet a hasp and staple to the door and padlock it.
We really do live in a paranoid world.

Wizard,
Its not really a matter of whats to steal, all the other access hatches have security locks and there's nothing much to steal behind them either, but under tow the door flaps around quite noticeably and is of concern. Engineering a solution wont be difficult I just thought others may have had the same issue. But thanks any way Wizard, you have been a big help.
