We have a 2 door 12 volt Vitrifrigo fridge in the van. It has a thermostat knob which is graduated from 0 (off) to 7. In the centre of the dial is a white button. I pressed this and the fridge stopped. The button won't come out, turning
the knob does nothing and the manual does not even describe the control that is fitted. Does anyone know how to get the fridge running again???
Mike.

Thanks Doug,
Is that for my fingers or the fridge. LOL.
The button just popped out by itself in the time it took me to post this question, and the fridge is running again. What is the button for, I have no idea?

That's an easy one to answer Mike........ The button is there to stop the fridge from working...... and it sounds to me like it's working properly too; isn't that great!!! hahahaha
Sorry mate; I'm in one of those moods this morning and couldn't help myself.
Cheers

It's the defrost button. Found that out when something bumped against it and the fridge melted. Placed perfectly for something to bump it and ruin all your food by the end of the
Birdsville Dev Rd.
Why it's there at all is a mystery. Just turn the fridge off to achieve the same result.
We keep the eggs there now so nothing can bump it.
Smart design for a moving vehcile. Italians roads must be as flat as a billard table.

I think Vitrifrigos were originally made for marine use - maybe the sea is always flat round Italy???

I just checked - my single door Vitrifrigo doesn't have the dreaded button. Lucky or something would have bumped it. Glad you got the problem fixed quickly Mike.

I made an L shaped aluminium strip to cover the button and stop things accidentally bumping it.
Once it is pressed, the fridge WILL defrost and warm up quite a lot before the button pops out and restarts.
It's much better defrosting "manually."
