Considering going to the Cobourg Peninsular August 2009. Driving a 100 Series TD L/Cruiser pulling a
Kimberley Karavan. If anyone out there has done the trip I would love some input
Thankyou, Len

Just remember to apply for a permit
well in advance of your trip.I do believe they do not reccomend travelling with a van but things may have changed since I was there.Ipersonaly was dissapointed in the place as there were far too many restrictions for that area and you will find you are very limited as to where you can go with the permit in such a big area--even the
camping is very regimented.Only my opinion.

Len,
Can't help with the (road) trip as I got there by boat however, once you get there, stay out of the
water. If you have kids, stay away from the
water.
Cheers
Doug

Len,
Been through Cobourg a few yrs ago towing a 4.5 m boat. The road after
Cahills crossing is very corrugated and dusty as long as you drive slow you should be OK. Allow the best part of a day for travel to Cobourg and enjoy the scenery. We mostly fished in Port Essington and there was a store with limited supplies and fuel. Lots to do by boat in the area.
Victoria settlement was interesting , recommend hiring a guide for a while and enjoy the area. The
park rangers were very helpful also and have
park activities planed for visitors.

Its fine. You will have no problems. We towed a boat up to there. Mind you it was May and ithe road had just been graded.
The road is no worse than an other in the NT.
