Heefers
G'day all, I have a bit of a whine coming from what is possibly the engine in my patrol. It is a 3.0 CRD Manual with about 15000k's on the clock. The noise kicks in when I bring the revs on and changes pitch and volume with more / less revs. The noise is there in neutral, in gear, clutch in or clutch out. Any ideas?
Many thanks in advance, Heefers

Possibly alternator or idler pully bearing? It's still under warrenty so take her back to the dealer.

Had something similar with my courier, thought it was the Turbo, ended up the exhaust manifold was leaking. Sounded like a bearing had gone.

Have you tried you Nissan dealer as it is still under warranty.
Asking a question like that on here is like asking Dazza down at pub whats the best way to invest $50,000.

I think you might find you have a blown gasket on the EGR pipe and loosing turbo boost, It is on the right side of the engine in the middle. It`s an alloy pipe with a flange top and bottom with two bolts in each one. You will probably find its the bottom one that has blown,it has a metal gasket and don't be surprised if a bolt is missing. The bottom flange will be warped and need facing up with a file before fitting the new gasket. Regards Nav.
