Howdy everybody, I recall readind a looonnnng time ago about a protective film you could put over the paint work to protect it from stone chips. Anybody have any idea what it is called and where you can buy it, or any other similar products or ideas? I particularly want to put it on the rear barn doors on 105 cruiser.
Stone chips from towing camper, easier to put something on to the vehicle, I think.
Cheers Krakka

I can't remember what it is called but I remember seeing it advertised somewhere. Ring Crash Supplies in the city (of churches). If you cant get it you could try Adelaide Cricket Warehouse because it's like Extratec that you use on cricket bats. You may be able to use that.

Are you talking about a vinyl style plastic that is stuck on the vehicle?

3M produce some good stuff in 2 thicknesses, available from custom graphics shops. Cheaper and slightly thinner stuff is available from autobarn, supercheap etc called "lightskinz" made by altrex (google it).

If it was a paint product, it was more than likely called Scratch Pro Paint Protector....i got mine from Opposite Lock some years ago.

The link to the product is here ==> Scratch Pro Paint Protector

Hi Krakka
Try www.autoskin.com.au mate great stuff used it on the CSR, just need a pressure cleaner to get it off, better than the alternative though.

Cheers Steve.

Hey Krakka, yeah you can skin the doors, but a deflector would be better in the long run or a big piece of conveyor rubber behind back wheels!!

Or combine both to do the job, keep the paint good and deflect stones and rocks!!!!

Thanks Christopher, I have a stoneguard on the camper trailer but still getting some stone chips. Was thinking some easy to apply film might also help.
Thanks Krakka.

I rigged a panel of shadecloth between trailer and car.

After 19,000km of outback travel not a mark on the rear and no broken windows.
