Cant seem to find much information on this track which goes from Ravensthorpe to Norseman.

Has anyone driven it recently ?

Cheers....Lionel.

Hi Lionel,

I haven't driven the track but here's a photo of a section I crossed near Peak Charles at the beginning of the year. I don't think it is well used.

Thanks Alan,

Looking to give it a crack early next year.
Appears a bit tight, the fact that its little used is just screaming to be driven.

Cheers mate,

Lionel.

Thanks Richard,

Came across that while poking around the treks section.
In fact, its what planted the seed for a quick 3 day trip.

Cant seem to find much even on Google, suppose the less I know, the more of an adventure it will be.

Cheers.....Lionel.

HI Lionel

I travelled the track about 4 years ago and put put together the Trek Note on this site.

Its a good drive. I don't think its particularly difficult - however 4WD is needed. Its a great bit of country and as someone else said it screaming to be driven.
I haven't been there since - what else did you want to know?

cheers

Phil

Giday Phil, I was just curious about camping spots really.

If its a bit like the Holland, the western end would be a little scrubby and as you moved east it became a bit more open with taller trees. Is this the case with the Dunn ?

Also got a mate thats very fussy where he takes his brand new black Pajero and would have a heart attack if he put one scratch on it. Im assuming, judging by Alan's photo, it would get pretty tight in some places. Even more so if the track has not been touched for so long.

Cheers....Lionel.

Only been down it as far as the 5 ways and peak elenora.
Aw a write up from someone a few years back. sections had been burnt out and they suffered severe black pinstriping.
Should be an interesting drive for the fact it will start in goldfields woodland but as you head south you should see some coastal plants intermingling.
Same as the fraser range track in the Dundas NR that heads south

Hey Davoe, hows it going mate.

Always on the hunt for little tracks and places to camp. Seem to always end up round the Goldfields area, love the place actually.

Thinking of doing the trip [Northam - Norseman - Ravensthorpe] on the Australia Day weekend in 2009.

Work is my only problem these days, far too much of it....lol.

Cheers....Lionel.

Hi Lionel,
Sorry for the delay in getting back to you.

We travelled it from Ravensthorpe to Norseman. The country changes from year to year especially if a bushfire has been through.

Yes there are a number of sections that would add character lines to your 4WD and would give your friend a stroke. Maybe Scratch Pro (from Opposite Lock stores I believe) would keep his nerves under control. Punctures from stakes are a real possibility; we found strings plugged them ok so we could continue.

On day one we were still in the tight scrubby country and struggled to find a campsite and firewood. We finished up camping on the track itself, so we could get a bit of clear ground. It wasn’t until the second day that we got in goldfields woodland country.

I you have any other queries I am please to help if I can?

Cheers

Phil
