Hi All,
With the exception of some forms of classical and other music, there is probably no greater sound to the human ear than the sound of a powerful diesel motor under full throttle … (with a torque converter). Thus said I thought it would be “different” to have a diesel sound as my mobile ring tone. Google is my friend here I thought. Over 1 million references to diesel ring tones. Alas how mistaken was I. Apparently there is some crappy tiny boppers band called diesel … and all ring tones apply to that. So does anyone know of a place where you can download diesel engine sounds to use as a ring tone. Methinks if there is a choice I will choose the sound of a slow throb of an old gardner diesel … LOL.

Cheers,
GPM

Try recording your own with the phone. I don't know if it will work but maybe hold it near the exhaust while someone gives it a rev. I recorded my ring tone at F1 GP this year. It sounds great but when I tried it at a recent round of the V8s I only got background noise.
Good luck. Stuart.

Yeah thanks Sturat - thats worth a try if there is no other option. I was hoping there would be a datbase of different diesel ones so you can download a few and change the ring tone occasionally.

Glen

just go to youtube, type in detroit diesel, find one you like, then go to dvdvideosoft which will allow you to install a program to grab a youtube clip, take the sound and you're done.
