We camped at Redbank, a former outstation of Yanda, now run by the NPWS, for the
Louth Races only a couple of weeks ago. It's about 30km upstream from
Louth, so about 50 from
Bourke. It's right on the Darling.
Call the Parks Office in
Bourke 02 6872 2744
Also could
camp at Gundabooka NP. Not on the River but only 30km south. Good
camping at Dry
Tank and walks up onto the Gunderbooka Range.

G`day Steve & Denny,
I don`t know about along the top end of the darling but all we ever did along the lower parts ( down stream from
Menindee)where the river was not far from the road was to look for a track leading off towards the river and it usually would lead to a fishing/
camping spot, if you are only staying over night I don't think you will have any problems with station owners, if however you are staying more than the one night I would seek out the owner and ask permission. We never ever had a problem as most allow campers but still like to be asked. If you have a dog it would pay to have it tied up or on a lead as not many property owners that have sheep like to see dogs running loose.
Enjoy the trip.
Scrubby

Not sure if Redbank is officially National
Park yet...
Reckon I'd still call the Office in
Bourke.

Hi Guys,
There have been a heap of posts about this very subject since June with lots of recommendations.
Can I suggest an archive search? Set June 1st as your starting point and use only the word "Darling " your keyword.

Hell! Nobody gave me a look in.
Using "river" in my initial search bought up just too many irrelevant threads.

You poor bent mongrels are truly amazing.
Love it.
And while I'm here, tell me how to get rid of those beautifull male shoulders overlying the peaceful, smouldering '
Barrington Tops' formation.
Strewth, where is the relevence?
Diddy mau.

If you contact the
tourist information centre in
Bourke they have an information pack for travellers along the river. It includes contact details for properties that will allow
camping, some are free and some charge a small fee. All good info.
I know you can
camp at Killara which is just north of
Tilpa. You could also just call at Shindy's Inn at
Louth and I am sure they will help you out.
Tilpa pub is also a good source of info.
Only tip I'll give for travelling that part of the world is take your time. The peace is what it is all about.
