Well i rang my insurance company this morning after not hearing any thing from them for 2 weeks,I wanted to know were the claim was at and what they have covered as i heard from A.R.B last week and not the insurance company,
well it turns out 90% of the gear they will cover for me,i still have a couple of issues like the c.d player {wasn't on the policy}but i have a receipt saying there was a sony c.d player fitted to the paj and on the policy it see''s cassett player so in my opinon they have to replace old with new aspeacially when they have proof it was fitted,And 2nd they haven't given me enough money(have'nt recieved it yet still in there hands}for the U.H.F plus anntenna,3rd GPS[G.P.S covered} they won't cover the software{not on policy} i've got the disc but i can't down load it on to another G.P.S as it is allready registered with Garmin so legally my software has been stollen if you know what i mean, thats about it at this stage, cheer's GREENDOG

Bloody amazing!! The insurance companies are quick to take your hard earned but its always a struggle to have it returned when the need arises.. Its never any different.. The sad thing is after struggling to get your 90% back after a few anxious weeks waiting, you probably feel that its a relief to get that much!! We can only hope you get close enough back to replace the major things.. Maybe when its over , you can tell us who the company is.. Michael

Hi There Greendog, glad to hear its coming along. Not sure how you will go with cd player as like everything, they want it stated on the policy. Hopefully your receipt says it was fitted to a pajero, number plate "------". Other wise they will probably knock it back. If they do, see if they will come to some agreement cash wise or some thing, anyway I think you will find that a genuine player that come with the pajero will cost more then say your sony, so they might agree to replace with what you had fingers xxx. Interesting about the GPS, NRMA would not cover
mine as they said its not a fixed unit (in other words factory fitted in dash) so I just remove it from vehicle when its left (I don't use it around locally anyway so not in vehicle). I will have to enquire about the UHF in
mine, its covered but I didn't mention the cost of aerial ?? Sounds like its coming along which is good to hear, a bit of communication from them would be better !!. Regards Steve M

Hi Greendog
Good to here claim going forward, don't worry about using the software, you are the licence holder (registered user) and you still hold the disc so in effect the stolen copy becomes the illegal copy. The disc can be reloaded onto new GPS IMHO.
I would.
regards
David

Hi
Clare, On the strength of your actions I checked with APIA re what is or is not covered. I thought I would be safe... silly me
We have $4000 of contents insurance on the cvan but learned during the call that video cameras, mobile phones are not covered (plus lots of other things) and then the disclaimer also excluded photographic equipment. Lap tops are covered.
We have $120k of household contents insurance so everything would be OK if at home. We have an extra $4000 of unspecified valuables cover for items temprarily away from he home. That will cover cameras and mobile phone I thought BUT BUT "only up to a maximum of $1000 per item" So we would be $500 adrift if the camera went astray on a caravan trip or on a day pedestrian/train trip to the city.
Will have to have a long look at our cover before our next trip away.
Regards
SKI'er

Hi
Clare, they told me a definant no. Ahhh just reading your post again I take it you have it covered under your house contents ??? I have the waeco fridge under the house contents insurance only did that a month or so ago after reading on here that with NRMA it had to be through the house contents nothing to do with vehicle, and yet they would insure it if it was in our camper trailer !!! work that one out. MMMmm locked, alarmed, in vehicle not covered through the vehicle insurance, but would cover it if sitting inside a canvas camper, I know which would be eaier to get into specially with a knife. Any way I will chase that up mind you Im still not going to leave GPS in vehicle anyway the excess would be worth more then the GPS, camera and computer different. Thanks for
the tip. Regards Steve M

Its a pity they don't cover the loss of time, creation of stress and the cost of the phone calls caused by a lousy bastard thief who needed a fix.
Good to see it moving along Doggy, hope it works out for ya
