Hi all, thinking of taking a weekend trip to either
Port Smith or
Barn Hill. Which did you prefer, where did you catch the most fish mainly. LOL. My server isnt letting me log onto either
places websites so cant really decide, can only go off what info i have gathered off locals and they dont really know either. Do both of them have boat hire? I am pretty sure
Port Smith does, and it has a creek so will get to do some crabbing and fishing for Jacks and barra. Any advice, will only be rolling a swag so as long as there is some shade im happy. Would prefer a place where i dont have to drive on the sand too much and where its easy to get to the water at high tide.
Cheers

More choices for fishing at
Port Smith imo. Agree the Sandflies were shocking a month ago, spray a mixture of baby oil & citronella on your skin.
$2 donation to RFDS and the owners take you across in a boat to the point where they leave you for 3 or 4 hours to do what you like, I had a great time just chucking lures on the incoming tide and catch & releasing. Yes P.Smith hire boats.
Fishing off the high cliffs [which arent that high] would also be recommended.
Very high tides so be aware of your tide times to suit your stay.

Ah memories..... last time in
Barn Hill was with a bunch of kids from the School of the Air based in
Derby. My sister taught there.
I provided a science show for the kids, and my family had a
nice camp for a while as we toured Oz. That was 1994.
Just about as far from
home as I can get and still be on the mainland.
