Well - after about eight years of trusty service - we are about to put our CT out to pasture -
well sell it to someone else anyway.
We have just had a month away -
Lightning Ridge -
Emerald -
Rockhampton -
Mount Morgan - Mount
Hay -
Gladstone - Tannum Sands - and
Kalbar (grandkids) - as you can see we move around a lot when we are on holiday - don't know how people can just go to the same place time after time - the trailer has never let us down in all this time, but this trip we decided that it would be it's last one.
I came home to find I have been made 'redundant" - not very nice - didn't stop us looking at vans though - and lo and behold there it was just what we were looking for - small, light, good price (4.3m - 820kg - $15,500) - so off the boss goes to " just look" at it - comes back couple of hours later - "do you want to see it? it's perfect -like new - Coromal Cygnet -2000 model - but guy who had it was fanatical - floors carpeted - garaged - every, service, manual etc - for everything in the van" - so, we now have a caravan -
Might have a buyer for camper - have told him it looks very "experienced" (which it is!!) - he seems keen - just need to clean it all out - it hasn't been emptied out for eight years - it has got everything in it - even found a pamplet from our first trip to
Darwin (2000)
Oh,
well, now I guess we are caravanners, not campers - happens with age I suppose.

I know where you're coming from having made the same jump recently. A little more comfort and simplicity in bunking down for the night.
Kind regards

I bought a Vision Hardtop Camper which is a compromise. My wife wanted a caravan and I still wanted to do the off road but without the huge weight of an off road caravan. The Vision only weighs 650kg empty. We took up
Cape York and had ball.
I've still got a Halls camper trailer that I will sell in the next few months. The Vision is so easy to up compared to the Halls camper and you are not sleeping under canvas.

Good on you Julie, I hope the new van provides you & The boss with as many safe K's as the CT and that it also provides you both with many happy travelling memories. Cheers & best wishes.
Just as an aside, it's always nice to hear women refer to their hubby as "the boss". Just goes to show that some women still know their place in the world!! LOL & no offence.

the title is only to keep him happy - he knows who is really the boss in this household. Thanks for the good wishes.

I noticed you guys were into soft options... saw you also had a room at the
Walgett Westin ;-) one night recently.
I think we arrived after you had set up
camp, and we left before you had decamped ;-)

Thanks for the magnet card - noticed you guys as
well when we got back from a meal at the local club - we had a big day that day, and didn't want to set up in the dark at
the Ridge. You were gone when we surfaced next morning.

ditto. LOL. We had come from Emu Park/Rocky and had a meal at the sports club... okay, and probably better than anything else in
Walgett, but nothing to write home about and the motel...
well, all I saw was the backs of my eyelids anyways.
Cheers
Andrew.

Hi Wafarmer,
I have one the newer models that has the pneumatic rams on the tailgate, we have had no problems with ours and it tows like a dream. I ran both fridges off solar for 2 1/2 months and the batteries never dropped below 70%, one as a freezer (-17 deg C) and the as a fridge (0 deg C). The pneumatic
suspension is just so great on the dirt tracks. We are really happy with our purchase.
Regards,
Arthur

Hi Arthur
Mine was one of if not the first with air lift on the tailgate and yes the air
suspension is very good and they are great to tow.
I have solar 2x 120w suntech and 2x 115 ah batts but it was having trouble running an 80l s/s engel on -15 and 50l waeco on fridge but to be fair there was a lot of shade from trees and some unseasonal cloudy days where we were.(gotta love
solar power it costs but great for a long time and quiet too)
Had to rewire the 240v and inverter circuits to split them from each other (not good when the inverter is trying to run the hot
water system and power the hard wired 40 amp battery charger!!)
They are a brilliant concept but need to be put together a little better eg all the electrical air and
water lines dragged through and set in jagged holes have caused leaks and problems but I'm sorting them out.
They are a very comfortable rig on a stormy night
In Qld have you fitted an a/c my wife wants one?

Hi Wafarmer,
Mine came with two 55ltr Bushman fridges and the two running together use 7 amps. I have an Engel upright fridge in my Halls camper trailer and that uses 6 amps by it's self and runs longer and more often. We camped on the Clarance river NSW for six days and it rained for 4 and the 2*110 AGM amp/hr batteries dropped to 70% of charge, on the first day of sunshine they were back at 90% charge and the next day back to 100%. I have 2*75 watt panels. I used the same panels with the Halls camper with the Engel fridge, it's got 2* 100 amp/hr AGM batteries and it was flat out just running the fridge.
I am really impressed with the Bushman fridges. I didn't want them in the beginning and wanted the Vision fitted with Engel fridges but I'm glad I was talked out of the Engels.
Regards Arthur
