redfive,
Not sure about
Goulburn River Nationsl
Park, but another spot in that area
well worth a vist is Dunn's Swamp in the
Wollemi National Park, and it is only 25 kms from
Rylstone. It is set on the
Kandos weir and is very picturesque. Not sure if you have been there before but I would thoroughly recommend it.

Unfortunalty Dunns is now overcrowded on long weekends. unless your idea of bliss is
camping with hundreds of others. Shame.

Pete,
With everyone these days wanting to go
camping it's getting harder and harder to find those quiet and not overpopulated spots.
Oh
well, it's fun looking for them though! Don't keep it a secret if you find one, let me know first!

Being an old bushie I hate
camping in a crowd, would rather stay home. I guess I had the best of it. Twenty years ago we would go to dunns and it would be unusual to see another camper. The locals use to
water ski on it would you believe. Its a wonder no one was killed.Still has good fishing. We also use to go to the major dams throw all our
camping gear into the boat and head off. No one for
miles in the seventies.

We had a family get together there last
Easter. The
Big River camp site was FULL but there was a heap of space at spring gully.(thats the first
camp area you come to. No photos, Sorry.
The river was it's normal low bur worth while for walks etc in the area. We had a great time but then again on
Easter Sat we just sat around and talked.
Hope this helps

Vince I am interested in trying for bass in this area. The lower Goulbourn is very silted up but I have heard there is some good holes up in the
park, is that right.

Glenn There arfe some good holes. A bit of a walk to most of them. A few that are very pretty are to be found to the west of Spring gully
camping ground. Have a look at the map. The river takes a BIG loop around the
camping areas to the west, north & east.
The few times I have been oput there have been last
Easter, which was a very laid back affair & the time before was with son & his partner for the State Rogaining, so no time to check out the fishing.

Went into the far end
camping area in May when we were up that way and you could walk across the river and hardly get your shoes wet at that stage. Quite different to the flood a couple of years back.

Called in there on Anzac weekend on the way to Coolah, did not
camp. There was one camper at the first
camp site and about 10 campers at Big River, but there was still heaps of room. Both areas were
well grassed. The river was barely a trickle and what there was was rather dirty. Friends are on their way there now for a couple of days
camping on the way back from the Simpson, because they reckon it looked so good when we called in at Anzac weekend.
