Best Off Road
We're shooting through for a week at the end of September. We'll be spending 4 or 5 nights at The Boomanoomana State
Forrest near Mulwala.
Whilst I have modest saltwater skills I really am a rank amateur when it comes to fresh
water.
Any tips on what breeds to chase and specialist techniques would be very welcome.
Jim.

Evening Jim
Just be aware that if you are fishing the
Murray River you will require a NSW fishing licence (unless exempt). And also be aware that the closed season for Murray Cod commenced on 1 Sept until 1 Dec.
Have a look at this
http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/freshwater-fishing
Have a great break
Cheers

Sorry to tell you this Jim, but you need
water to catch fish. LOL
As a long time 'user' of the Murray I can remember when the fish was good enough to eat; Catfish, Callop & Redfin, not to mention the yabbies as long as beer bottles. How things have changed. Iin SA Catfish is now protected , Redfin is a noxious pest fish, and the yabbies are as scarce as hens teeth. The Callop stocks seem good but the fish tastes like shyte due to the muddied
water.
We used to use grasshoppers or grubs tied to a hook for Cod, and shrimps for Catfish & Callop. I caught my 1st European Carp at Avoca Dell when I was about 6, using string, a safety pin & a bit of fritz.
