Hi all,

I'll be in WA on October and I was looking for a book to help me get more out of my trip, and also give me some camping tips and locations and more...

I was wondering if anyone seen any of these books or have any idea when they were published:

exploroz.com/Shop/Books/Priceless/Priceless_…

which looks like a 3rd edition (but i don't know when it's from)

exploroz.com/Shop/…

which looks like a 5rd edition (again, i don't know when it's from)

also, i'd be happy to hear if anyone got any good book to recommend for WA in addition to the above (I don't mine buying 2 books) with some tips, maps and so... we're planning to do Perth->Kalbarri and than the South of WA.

Thanks.

Hi

I can throughly recommend from first hand experience the following two books

the guide to FREE-CAMPING in the SOUTH of WA. S & S Collis (5th edition publisehd 2005)

A Guide to PRICELSS CAMPSITES & REST AREAS in the South of Western Australia............Jan Holland (not sure of current edition # but it wont really matter as the updates just add a few extra sites and latest info which is always subjuect to some change regardless of how "new" it all is)

I suggest that you purchase them both as they compliment each other...in other words whilst they do share some common site suggestions they have been written from a different perspective and are sufficiently varied from each other to justify the purchase of both

we have both the SW of WA and the NW of WA of each and have used them many times

any further info please ask (we live in the SW of WA) and would be happy to help

cheers

thanks a lot for the info...
actually i'm looking for the one that is not just camping oriented, i mean, one that also has some other info about places to see or hikes/things to do... and/or maybe info for a novice camper.

i'm not that of a camper really, i just really wanna try and camp on this trip, so i was wondering which one of these two help will me in other aspect rather than camping as well and maybe fit more for a new-camper

since u mentioned u live in SW of WA, maybe you can tell me if there's a national park in WA south or even north that i can camp as a base to go to trips (and come back at night to my camp)? something like wilsons promontory?

thanks again.

Most of these sites will post booklets to you:

WA Country Pubs

WA Wheatbelt Tourism

Dryandra Village

Shire of Wagin

Marima Cottages

Stirling Range Retreat

Southwest Community Portal

New Norcia

WA Tourism

and that just scratches the surface....

Hi Julianberg,

Along with the books that the others have suggested, I would suggest you also have a look at the 'Camping Guide to WA'.

Camping Guide to WA - CLICK HERE

It covers the regions that you are travelling to, and contains a lot more than simple camp sites. Each page has colour images of the area, camp site details, things to do in the area as well as a map of the region.

Should you have any further questions, I am happy to help!
