Hi Folks,
After just returning from our first "look and see tour" where we did a month away to Mt Isa from
Bundaberg and home via
Townsville we got lucky at a few of the place we passed through. ie at
Emerald we learned about "GemFest" and had a great 2 days "freecamp" at
Sapphire and again at
Hughenden when we stopped for petrol to learn that the
Hughenden Festival was on including free powered sites and
toilets at the showgrounds.
But as we drove into some towns the roadside
sign informed us tht we had missed maybe a rodeo or the races or that by 2 weeks, or that in 2 weeks something would be on.
I wondered,"are the events coordinated and advertised on a calendar ?" Rang the Qld. Minister for Tourism Offices. I was told no such calendar or coordination existed and why not suggest its creation to the Premier.
Just to be safe I rang
Bundaberg Regional Tourist Offices. They gave me this site, it is a beaut. www.queenslandevents.com.au. Maybe Qld Gov should catch up to
Bundaberg Tourist Off ?
I wonder if each state has one for us travelling itinerants?
Regards
SKI'er
