We have a 1996 LR Defender; live in outer east of
Melbourne. Can anyone recommend a good place to have work done on our vehicle? We have had bad experiences with work quality of one major dealer east of the city. Quite happy with the work quality of the other dealer to the east, but it is a major expedition to get there from as far out as we are - usually means we take 2 vehicles, in peak hour traffic, takes over an hour to get there, to leave the Defender for work. Then repeat the exercise a day or two later to collect it. Big chunk of time. We just want thorough and reliable work, at reasonable prices, so, ideas please?

We had a 96 Disco for a few years and had the occasional issue with it. Ended up going to AMV in Ringwood as a couple of mechanics couldn't sort our issue. Could not speak more highly of AMV's expertise, sorted the issue as
well as an older one we had given up on and hadn't bothered to make them aware of.
They're Rover specialists, and are now on Maroondah Hwy East Ringwood.

Ben, thanks. Exactly the sort of info I am after. Ringwood is very convenient for us.

G'day Wendy's,
Not sure how far out east you are, but I have my Discovery looked after by Roverland 95 Dorset road Ferntree Gully 9758-5777. They are between Burwood Highway and Boronia shops.
I have been using Glen for several years and would highly recommend him for quality of workmanship, knowledge and price.
Cheers, Mark

Thanks Mark. That is a good recommendation, especially given your time using this mechanic. We are near
Lilydale, so that is an ok location. Won't go to Doncaster ever again, and it is such an expedition to Burwood! Because we usually do a big, remote trip for a few months, each year, need someone reliable who can both service the aging Defender and suss out whatever might need doing to keep it reliable in remote regions.
