Hi travellers,
I've heard through the bush telegraph that the road from
Oberon to Taralga and on to
Goulburn is now all tar?
Is this the case and is it suitable for a Van?
Regards

Hi,
We traveled down that road from
Oberon to
Goulburn earlier this year. Yes - it is all bitumen & a great drive. We towed a 18ft pop top without any difficulty at all.
If you do a search earlier this year there was lots of info. I did get some negative comment about the steepness of the
hill going down to the Abercrombie River but in my opinion it was way overstated. I was a littler apprehensive because of what I had been told but when I got there it was not as steep as I had envisaged but it goes in small stages ie a steep section then flattening out before another steep section. I tow with an auto Prado & i didn't even use my brakes much at all by selecting a low gear.
You will enjoy the drive & on the day we went there were much bigger vans than
mine on the road. Enjoy the road!
Willy

Thanks Willy,
Your right regarding the mixed messages mate. Some like yours, positive and take it easy being the message to Shock! Horror too dangerous for a van. We will give it a go, slowly in the steep stuff.

If it is all sealed now, it should be easy.
I used to drive an 8 wheeler Acco along there fequently when it was dirt.
